Caroline Goss’s Portfolio

Masters in Parks, Recreation, Tourism and Sport Management

Welcome!

My name is Caroline Goss and I am fortunate to call the Blue Ridge Mountains home. Having grown up in the mountains, I have always been drawn to the outdoors and feel passionate about outdoor recreation, travel, and environmental conservation. As the 4-H Agent in Ashe County, I get to meld these passions together and share them with youth in my community. I feel privileged to provide opportunities to get outside and learn about the environment through positive youth development.

After 3 years with Cooperative Extension, I felt I could benefit from North Carolina State University’s Masters program in Parks, Recreation, Tourism and Sport Management as I wanted to be a better manager for the 4-H program in Ashe and in an area I was already interested in – parks, recreation, and tourism, specifically. Through my time in the program, I have learned many things that have made me not only a better manager for my 4-H program, but also a better leader. This program challenged me to think about my work and organization in different ways and encouraged me to be innovative in my approach to solving complex issues.

This portfolio represents my time in the PRTSM Masters program through key takeaways, projects completed, and reflections from my time in the program.
