Reflections:
This assignment challenged us to look at how attitudes towards the natural environment have changed over time and how these attitudes are manifested in rules and regulations for outdoor recreation today.
I especially enjoyed this assignment because outdoor recreation is important to me and it was interesting to see how attitudes have shifted from a perspective of fear, like in the early settlement era, to the current climate in which many find refuge in nature and seek it out as a primary means of recreation. This assignment helped me look at outdoor recreation from the historical perspective and gave me a deeper understanding of the factors influencing varying attitudes towards leisure in nature today.
